Belle-Skinner / Girl Blue / Zan Strumfeld

Join us for an evening of incredible music from some incredible capital region women! Doors at 7, tunes start at 7:30. $5 suggested donation for the musicians. Full menu of coffee, tea, beer, wine, etc will be available!

Zan has carved her own niche of winter folk—anthems for the revivalists, lullabies for the lonely, ballads for the hopeful. With a soulful and seductive vulnerability, Zan’s songs of love and heartbreak are complemented by the indie/bluegrass sound of her band. In 2018, Zan and The Winter Folk were named the Best Folk Band of 2018 by The Alt and have opened for acts including grammy-nominated Robbie Fulks, Sean Rowe, and Ben Caplan.

Girl Blue is the pseudonym of singer/songwriter/producer Arielle O'Keefe . Born and raised in New York and Dallas on classical piano, choir music, hip hop and Ani Difranco, she developed a diverse sense for vocal arranging and storytelling through song. Her debut EP "I Am Not A Star" was embraced by Spotify right from its release, her first single "Fire Under Water" placed 7th on the New Music Friday playlist, seeing over 1 million hits within a month. Her cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" was also featured on New Music Friday and sat at Number 2 on the US Viral Charts. It was featured on the Huffington Post among several other publications. She currently lives in upstate NY, recording her own music with collaborators under the creative collective "Just Pretend Records" and is preparing a new full length album.

Belle-Skinner is a dark nostalgic folk and jazz songwriter from Upstate New York and Brooklyn. With a hauntingly beautiful, lilting soprano and innate sense of melody she crafts tales of songbirds, sirens and desert nomads - nuanced and layered stories that bridge the gap between past and present. Though her influences cover a broad range of genres - from French chansons and Russian folk to contemporary alt-pop and rock - her voice often draws comparisons to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, and Regina Spektor.
