Mom’s Night: Patio Printmaking with Rachael Lorimer
Wednesday, July 31 / 5-7pm
147 4th St. Troy, NY
Calling all mamas and mamas-to-be: Join us for a lovely summer evening on the patio where artist Rachael Lorimer will be teaching us some basic printmaking techniques! Get your hands dirty, sip a cold bev and make some new friends! Coffee, tea, beer, mimosas, kombucha and snacks available all night!
Station 1 - VEG OUT: Stamping, the most basic and universal printmaking technique! Various plants and veggies will be bi-sected and ready for use as stamps, so we can dunk them into puddles of color and get their beautiful shapes onto our squares.
Station 2: ALL THE FAIRY DUST: Aquatint technique borrowed from etching, stenciling borrowed from silkscreen. Several small spray bottles filled with paint in various colors can be sprayed to create a speckling all over people's paper, much like a sloppy airbrush. Toothbrushes can be available for similar effect!
Station 3: BUILD UP - Stamping/ printing of built-up relief blocks, borrowed from collograph printing. We’ll cut shapes out of cardboard or craft foam and glue them to a base to make your printing block. Ink up and use them all over the paper like stamps, or make a single large one to use as your primary image / printing block.
